Structuring in volume and at the interfaces of polymers

This third scientific topic shall cover the aspects of confinement of ionic liquids in a polymer. There are several ways to immobilise the IL in a polymer matrix: by physical interactions with the polymer swollen by the IL, covalent interactions, by the presence of preformed charges or charges generated by sol-gel processes. This structuring, modulated by the chemical nature of the IL and of the host network, shall be discussed for polymers in solution (colloids), polymers in a solid state, and extended to organic/inorganic confining networks.
The scientific obstacles covered in this third topic shall cover:
- The nanostructuring of polymer matrices: from colloids to the solid state
- The structuring of physical/chemical gels
- Construction of polymer/IL phase diagrams
- Nanostructuring at interfaces
